Benefits

In grateful recognition of your dedication and sacrifice the United States through the Veterans Administration provides former Service men and women with many benefit programs. Your County Veterans Service Officers are proud to assist our fellow veterans obtain benefits they earned.

Healthcare

As a Veteran you may be eligible for VA Healthcare if you served in the active military, naval or air service and didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge.

Compensation

As a Veteran you may be eligible for Disability Compensation if you have a current injury or illness that was either caused or aggravated by your military service.

Education

VA education benefits help Servicemembers, Veterans, and their qualified family members with needs like paying for college tuition, finding the right school or training programs and getting career counseling.

Pension

If you are a wartime veteran who meets certain age or disability requirements and your income and net worth are within certain limits, you may qualify for monthly payments through the Veterans Pension Program.

Job Placement

The VA can assist a Veteran with their job search, return to work with a service connected disability, training for new job opportunities, start or grow their own business, & connect you with Department of Labor resources.

Dependents and Survivors

Dependents and Survivors of Veterans may be eligible to receive many types of VA benefits such as Dependency & Indemnity Compensation, Survivors Pension, Education Benefits and home loans.

Burial Benefits

VA burial benefits can help Servicemembers, Veterans, and their family members plan and pay for burial or memorial service in a VA national cemetery. Family members can also order memorial items to honor the service of a veteran.

Mental Health

Mental Health is a big issue. We as Veterans may not want to admit there may be an issue. Mental Health affects us all differently. It is our desire to help Veterans and their families find the right help for what is going on in their lives.

Discharge Upgrades

Each branch of the service has discharge review boards toto review the discharge or dismissal of former service members. (the Navy Board considers Marine Corps cases.)

State Benefits

Established in 1944, the State Soldiers Assistance Program (SSAP) provides direct or emergency financial assistance to Veterans, dependents and survivors.

Outdoors

In appreciation of and support of your military service the DNR, MN Department of Public Safety, Department of Revenue and others provide additional benefits for qualified Veterans and Survivors.
